Frequently Asked Questions
Here are the answers to the questions that I get asked often.
What materials do you use for your houses?
I use a low fire stoneware clay that is fired in my kiln. The glazes that I use the most are Mayco Stroke n Coat low fire glazes.
Do you accept custom orders?
I do not take custom orders most of the time. However, occasionally I do open up custom pre-orders to my email subscribers. I choose a time that works with my schedule and notify my subscribers when orders will be taken. These times vary and only open to email subscribers.
How do I purchase your ready to ship work?
One of a kind clay pieces and paintings will be listed when available.
Sign up for my newsletter if you want to be informed of any of these products.
Why is it so difficult to buy your houses?
I create my houses by hand in small batches. These small batches of houses take several weeks to make. They require drying time, firing time, then glazing time. I make all of my one-of-a-kind creations by hand, which takes time. I try to make as many houses as I can but I add small unique details can take more time to create. Sometimes there are more buyers than finished houses so they can sell out quickly. I recommend signing up for my newsletter to get notifications of restocks and opportunities for ordering.
Why don't you take custom orders all of the time?
Early in my business I did take orders all of the time. But as my business has grown, I’ve had to adapt and change the way I work. As an artist I need time to experiment and create new products to keep my work interesting to my customers and myself. Making the same thing repetitively can lead to creative burnout for me. I’ve been making houses for many years and they have evolved quite a bit so it is still fun for me.
As my business has grown I have had to make changes that work for my business as well as my health. I work in small batches to help with my workflow. If I made large batches, I would have to eliminate other projects. Adding stress just to increase numbers is not how I want to create. For now, this is what works for me and I enjoy it.
Do you ship outside of the US?
